Sustainability
Many printers have recognised the need to change their processes to become leaner and greener. Whilst technology improves at a rapid past and production methods increase capabilities and speed, they have also seen the need to be observing the needs of the planet. I touched on FSC paper earlier, but more and more printers have adopted new working practices to become ‘greener’.
· ISO standards
· Vegetable Inks as opposed to alcohol based.
· FSC sourced paper
· Waste reduction policies
· Waste recycling policies
· Green transport
From a buyer’s perspective there is also the added question of the delivery. Why produce a job in the UK that can be just as successfully printed in Milan. Madrid, Monaco, Munich etc.
UK Brexit forced the issue, to a certain extent, with customs issues when shipping from the UK to continental Europe. There are no internal borders still in Europe – so ease of movement and delivery.
